TV Icon Diahann Carrol Dies at 84
Television icon, actress & singer Diahanna Carrol died this weekend in her Hollywood home.
She was 84 years old.

Borne Carol Diann Johnson in NYC in 1935 the singer, dancer & actress began her career as a model and later went onto dominate television & film screens. Carrol had herstory as the first African American woman to star in her own sitcom in the USA in the 60’s: Julia. The actress was a Tony & Emmy award winner, Academy award nominee and also former Broadway star. She epitomized grace, elegance, class & sophistication. Perhaps probably best known for her role as Dominique Devereaux on Dynasty in the 80’s; and Whitney Gilbur’s mother in A Different World.

Carroll also knew her share of personal hardships and challenges, surviving breast cancer and having been married four times. She triumphed nonetheless and was a successful artist & also mother. She leaves a daughter behind to carry on her legacy and will always remember her for being a class act with killer style, and satorial glam.
